ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a hospital assault, phone harassment, a theft of medications, a suspicious car, a scam and drugs. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Hospital assault A man brought into the emergency room at Elmhurst Hospital about 5 p.m. Friday was put in restraints because of his behavior. During a struggle, the man kicked someone, causing an injury to the victim's elbow. Charges are pending. Phone harassment A woman in the 400 block of Howard Avenue informed police that she received more than 30 phone calls between Dec. 3 and Dec. 17 from an unknown person threatening her. The victim told the suspect that the calls were being traced. The suspect has not called back. The woman said she would sign a complaint if the suspect were found. Theft of medications A man stole medication at 11 a.m. Thursday from Walgreens, 160 N. Robert T. Palmer Drive. The store said the man used a key to access the locked display of over-the-counter medication. After he passed the registers, he was confronted. He then dropped some medications from his pockets. The man was described as black, 30 to 40 years old, 240 to 250 pounds, and wearing a black stocking hat, a white and blue surgical mask, a black coat with a gold zipper, a black shirt with white writing, dark jeans and black shoes. Suspicious car An officer responded to a report of a suspicious car that was improperly parked about 8 a.m. Friday at the parking deck at 120 Adelaide St. The suspect said her rear tire had blown out and that she had parked her car in the first available spot. The officer cited her for being improperly parked in a space and told her the car would be towed if it were not removed. Police later checked the area and found the car was not there. Fugitive An officer tried to stop a red Dodge Journey SUV about 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lake and Grand. Instead, the man behind the wheel sped away. He was described as white, having short or shaved hair and wearing a light brown coat. An investigation is pending. Scam A resident in the 700 block of Parkside Avenue told police Thursday that she received an email requesting her Social Security number to update her account with Netflix. After entering her Social Security number, the woman realized the email was fraudulent. An officer provided her with information on how to protect herself from identity theft. Drugs Kara Lyn Brage, 41, of Aurora, was arrested at 3 p.m. Friday at 600 W. North on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, she was found with heroin. Driving violations Jose Bautista, 38, of Lombard, was cited about 8 p.m. Thursday at Route 83 and Riverside on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper passing of an emergency vehicle. He was released to the Villa Park Police Department.Ramone D. Patterson, 36, of Chicago, was cited about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and Riverside on charges of driving with a suspended license and no valid registration. He was released on bond.Jack Ndayisenga, 18, of Knoxville, Tenn., was cited about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Addison and North on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of alcohol by a minor. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
