Intercountry Adoption Crimes: Corruption and Fraud Schemes within a Cleveland-based Adoption Provider
Join us as we return to in-person Coffee, Cases, and Hot Topics. The next session will be with FBI Cleveland Division’s Special Agent Mark Nowak to discuss an international adoption agency fraud scheme. A Strongsville international adoption provider, in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), other US laws, and the Hague Convention on the Protection of Children, conspired to procure adoptions of Ugandan and Polish children through bribing Ugandan officials; and defrauding birth families, U.S. adoptive parents, U.S. authorities, and the Polish government. Join us for more details of the case and listen to the case agent who has been working on this case for years to see how it unfolds. The event is free to attend for FBICLECAAA members.
