Description

Buffalo Toronto Public Media is partnering with the Buffalo & Erie County Library and the Buffalo History Museum for a community event. On Friday, April 1, Buffalo Toronto Public Media and partners are hosting a screening of Ken Burns' Benjamin Franklin at The Buffalo History Museum. Parts of Benjamin Franklin will be shown and Pulitzer Prize-winning, editorial cartoonist from The Buffalo News, Adam Zyglis, will be featured speaker at the event. Along with showing clips of the documentary, a conversation will be facilitated with Adam Zyglis that explores the work of Benjamin Franklin and compares and contrasts editorial cartoons from the American Revolution to those of today, including some of our Artist & Activist Showcase community submissions. Audience questions and discussion will be encouraged. We are calling for community submissions in relation to the art and writing of Benjamin Franklin. Community members are encouraged to create and submit political cartoons, art pieces, short writings, and poetry related to the theme: "Today's Equity Challenges vs. 18th Century Thinking." Submit your creation here. Buffalo Toronto Public Media will collect and organize submissions that will be shared on our website and social media platforms. Submissions received before March 25, 2022 may also be shared and discussed during the screening event at The Buffalo History Museum on April 1, 2022. Admission to the museum is Pay What You Wish and visitors can check out the new exhibit Continuum (bicentennial of Erie County). Masks are recommended.
