ELGIN, IL — A film crew for the "Fargo" television series was in Elgin on Monday shooting scenes for the show's fourth season. The film crews were in the Gifford Park neighborhood starting early on Monday and expected to be shooting through 5 p.m. "The city of Elgin was scouted and chosen for filming this period show, set in 1950, because of its preserved homes and buildings," according to information posted on the city's Facebook page. The crews shot scenes outside the Elgin History Museum, on College Street between Park and Division and on North Street between Hill and College. Those living in the area were asked to park on Division or in a nearby municipal parking lot while filming was going on. In addition, beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday and continuing through 8 p.m. on Sunday, parking would not be allowed on the following streets: South side of Park Street between Dundee and HillBoth sides of College between Park and DivisionBoth sides of North between Hill and DundeeBoth sides of Channing between Park and DivisionNorth Street would also be closed at times during filming Monday, which was expected to run from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The FX television series is expected for its fourth season in 2020.
