Description

Join us for An Evening with the Hillbilly Thomists in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Providence Diocese in the Smith Concert Hall The Hillbilly Thomists are a band of friars of the Order of Preachers and include two of PC's own chaplains, Fr. Justin Bolger and Fr. Peter Gautsch. After playing music together for several years at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., the friars released their eponymous debut album in 2017, which reached #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and mostly consisted in bluegrass standards and Americana favorites. Their second album, Living for the Other Side, recorded at the Alberthaus in the Catskills, consists of mostly original songs. It is a resonant and at times a rollicking meditation on grace, suffering, faith, conversion, and the soul’s dogged desire for what really matters. Their third album will be released in spring '22 followed by a tour in summer '22. Location- Smith Center Concert Hall Please note COVID-19 guidelines as of March 2, 2022, on campus: Masks are optional inside Providence College buildings. There are two exceptions: classrooms, where instructors may continue to require masks if they wish, and medical/clinical settings, where masks are required according to public health guidelines. PC requires all persons attending indoor events (including presenters and entertainers) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours. Event sponsors will check for verification of vaccination or a negative test at entry. A fully vaccinated person is one who is 14 days past receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved/authorized by the CDC (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) or authorized by the WHO. As of Feb. 1, 2022, the definition was expanded to include a booster shot for those who are eligible by that date.
