SALEM, MA — The state "Stop the Spread" COVID-19 coronavirus drive-thru site at Salem High School will not be open on Friday.
The site, which is typically open from 4 to 8 p.m., will be closed with big student events going on at the school that night. The Salem High boys basketball team is hosting Medfield in the state tournament starting at 6:30 and the Salem Drama Club's presentation of "Into the Woods" has its first of three weekend shows starting at 7.
The drive-thru site is set to reopen on Saturday at 10 a.m. as scheduled.
The city also said on Thursday that the hours are changing for March 26 with the test site open from 1 to 6 p.m. instead of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The state Department of Public Health on Thursday said coronavirus cases continue to fall with a 1.8 percent positive rate and 383 COVID-related hospitalizations statewide — the lowest level since August 2021.
