MILFORD, CT — No injuries were reported after Milford firefighters responded to a "heavy fire" on Regent Terrace Thursday night. Firefighters were dispatched to the home at around 8:27 p.m. after multiple people called to report a large fire. There, they found heavy flames coming from the back of the property and extending into the home. The Stratford and West Shore Professional Firefighters assisted the Milford Fire Department in putting out the fire, and crews helped the family salvage some of their property and secure the damage, firefighters said. A boat close to the home was affected by the fire, though no other nearby property was damaged, Milford Professional Firefighters said on Facebook. No injuries were reported, and a firefighter who searched the house rescued a cat that was unharmed, firefighters said. Though the fire department didn't release a cause of the fire, they reminded the community to "extinguish and discard ashes from a wood stove properly and away from other combustibles." "The local 944 and Milford Professional Firefighters are staffed with 25 members along 4 shift operating 24/7," the firefighters said on Facebook. "This staffing and quick response times throughout the city saved the potential for more damage and costly repairs and this family from losing their home."
