TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Pizza Hut with a drive-thru coming to Toms River is anticipated to open this summer, officials said.
The Pizza Hut is one of two businesses that have signed on at the new retail site under construction in the Silverton section of Toms River.
Pizza Hut will occupy 1,800 square feet in one end of the 12,600-square-foot space at 1882 Hooper Ave., officials with R.J. Brunelli, a commercial real estate company, said.
The other end of the building will house an AT&T store in 3,726 square feet of space, officials said.
The site is being built by March Construction.
Pizza Hut announced last year that it had added drive-thrus at more than 1,500 sites, calling them "the Hut Lane," according to a Fortune report.
The new service will not replace delivery or dine-in options, officials said.
The Hut Lane orders are handled digitally, with customers able to place orders through the Pizza Hut app or website, or by phone to the local restaurant. Upon arrival, customers pull up to the dedicated window, grab their order and go.
"As construction on the building moves forward, we currently have several prospects interested in the remaining 7,100 square feet of inline space," said Mario Brunelli, vice president and principal of R.J. Brunelli, who represented the landlord on both the AT&T and Pizza Hut leases.
