LAGUNA BEACH, CA — In Laguna Beach, Independence Day isn't the only day set aside to honor those who have contributed to our country and community. The 55th annual Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade is just around the corner, and residents are invited to get out Saturday to join in on the celebration.
According to the city's website, the Patriots Day Parade is generally held every year on the first Saturday of March. The parade honors residents who have served the Laguna Beach community, as well as those who have served the nation in times of war and national emergency.
Entries in the parade range from civic organizations to veterans' organizations, to school bands, floats, vintage automobiles and novelty groups.
The festivities begin at Park Avenue and Legion Street at 10 a.m. Once the parade gets started, entries will march down Glenneyre Street and Forest Avenue before ending just past Laguna Beach City Hall.
In order to accommodate parade activity, portions of Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Beach Street, 3rd Street, Glenneyre Street, Short Street, Legion Street, Park Avenue and the Peppertree Parking Lot will be closed to traffic.
Street closures will be in effect throughout the duration of the parade, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Laguna Beach city officials said. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to take the city's free trolley service, and can learn more about the service and schedules on the city's website.
