ACROSS ILLINOIS — Metra has issued an apology after someone Tweeted at a customer who was celebrating inadvertently getting to ride the train for free.
The customer had posted, "Thanks again, @metraUPNW for another 'Free Ride Monday.' Buying a ticket on the Ventra app is like playing the slot machine."
Someone on the Metra Twitter account then responded by writing, "We regret to see that you're more excited about bragging to a transit agency that you got a free ride than paying your fair share for a service that hundreds of thousands of others have paid for. If you care to hear our opinion, it's not a good look."
After outcry from social media users, Metra posted the following apology on Twitter, "A Tweet sent from this account today overstepped courteous customer service. Our apologies to anyone who found it in poor taste."
