Description
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The new playground at Henry Puffer school was built by members of the community over a five-year period. The playground was unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 31.
The initiative started five years ago when officials decided to replace the old community-built playground. The goal was to have another playground that was built by community members, so parents and other volunteers set out to dig the holes and put together the equipment for the new playground.
"The leadership and dream of the entire Puffer community brought this vision to light," District 58 Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell said in a statement.
The inclusive playground is also ADA-accessible. "The playground represents the passion of the community as it took everyone to make it happen," Henry Puffer Principal Britta Waszak said in a statement.
