I’m making this review based primarily on the band and not the venue as the owner and staff were extremely polite and helpful and the space itself is pretty cool if you’re looking for a night out in Pasadena. However, I recommend avoiding Wednesday nights until the line-up changes.
On March 3rd, I attended The Mixx to work sound and camera for Justin Chart and his jazz quartet, to find out he is not a man of his word and refused to pay me for my work because of technical errors that were most likely due to the band's equipment and not my ability to press record and mix channels. He also didn’t give me enough time to press record on the multiple devices and blamed me for missing a couple of seconds of the into. He is very unprofessional and passes the blame onto others. I could write multiple reasons why my experience with Justin Chart was not a pleasant one but I’d rather just express that he is not a person I will ever support or help in the future and in an industry with so much talent, I’d recommend searching out a more decent human to go see perform.
