Location: Mt. Horeb, WI COMPANY MISSION: At eGenesis, we aspire to deliver safe and effective human transplantable cells, tissue and organs utilizing the latest advancements in genome editing. POSITION SUMMARY To efficiently perform all required procedures assigned by eGenesis – WI. Looking for a reliable member to join the team and assist research personnel in all farm activities, operating large equipment, hay production, landscaping, and basic animal care of swine. The right individual will have experience working with large animals, farm equipment, and can perform maintenance on equipment and buildings. Experience with hand tools and power tools is required. Must be detail-oriented with strong communication skills and ability to work as a team member. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will experience physical demands such as climbing, stooping, crouching, sitting on equipment such as lawnmowers and tractors for extended periods, and handling/moving swine throughout the facilities. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Be responsible for operating large farm equipment at the eGenesis - WI facility o Operating skid loaders, tractors, and hay equipment o Preventative maintenance on equipment and repairs when needed • Be responsible for mowing, weed eating, and general landscaping o Operating lawn mower tractor (Zero Turn, AWD), trimmer, leaf blower o Preventative maintenance on equipment and repairs when needed • Participate in daily care of pigs at the animal facilities. o Feeding, caring for, and handling swine o Cleaning and upkeep of the swine research facilities o Perform maintenance of the farm equipment o Operate farm equipment and machinery o Knowledge and basic understanding of hand and power tools o Operate sprayers and manure spreading machinery o Perform support for animals and operations in the quarantine facility o Provide additional support as needed to other research activities within the company • Promote and adhere to safety in workplace. o Instruct workers to follow safe work practices and enforce health and safety regulations. o Promote safety awareness o Correct unsafe acts and conditions and ensure equipment is properly maintained. o Report and investigate all accidents/incidents. o Inspect own area and take remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards. o Complete required training assignments, forms, and other paperwork. • Adhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements for the facility • Due to the nature of operating a research animal facility, there is potential to be asked to work overtime hours • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) • 1+ years of experience in large animal care and handling • 1+ years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance • Working knowledge of animal husbandry, including nutrition, reproduction, and safety • Basic working knowledge facility maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills • Basic use of Microsoft office suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) • Must not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company • CDL driver’s license desired but not required • Strong attention to operational planning and follow through • Working knowledge of data collection and recording PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in farm, shop, office, and animal husbandry environments in varying weather conditions. The employee frequently is required to be walking, stooping, climbing, crouching, sitting on equipment for extended periods of time and to operate heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus. The employee frequently is required to use and operate equipment within the daily routine. Employee will be required to handle and work with large animals. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in multiple environments, including office, agricultural fields, and animal husbandry buildings and pens. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, and filing cabinets. This job may require the use of hazardous chemicals, conduct sample collection on livestock, and operate in a dusty environment.
