Description
If someone reaches out to you from a local organization about taking your pet that you are wanting to re-home please be cautious. Anyone can call themselves a "rescue" but that does not mean they are legit and most rescues don't get solicit animals on Craigslist.
1. Do they have a webpage or only social media? Webpages will typically be an indicator of a more established organization with supports that will ensure the safety of your pet
2. Check if they are a 501(c)3 with the IRS. This can be another sign that it is a trusted organization
3.. Ask about the plans for your pet. Will they be rehomed, and if so what kind of medical and training is provided and how are adopters screened?
4. Please take every precaution that if you give your animal away that you make sure it is the best choice. Sadly there are hoarders with houses or horror for pets in Tucson posing as rescues where animals are unsafe.
