The concert will include early vocal music from the Iberian Renaissance and Baroque Cancioneros with poetic texts that depict Black women in La Donna Musicale and Rumbarroco perform a program of songs and polyphonic settings that honor the Morenas (dark-skinned Black women) in the Ibero-American repertory, beginning with settings of Nigra sum sed formosa from the Song of Songs, all the way to current folk representations in South America.
