SHIUR NY INAUGURAL EVENT! BALLET & DANCE, RITUAL, TEXT BASED DISCOURSE, SILENT DISCO AMIDST CONTEMPORARY ART, TECHNO, COCKTAILS, & MORE! Havdalah is the Jewish ritual marking the transition from the sacred utopia of Shabbat to the "regular" weekday of the secular world, with the intention to "upgrade" weekday life to retain the sacred, even in the mundane. How can we bring those rare, fleeting ecstatic and utopian moments experienced in spiritual and ecstatic settings to normal weekday life? Can we reveal the sacred in the profane? Can the ancient Havdalah ritual offer us an effective way to integrate those moments of expanded consciousness into our “workday” lives? We will explore the Havdalah ritual and the theme of regeneration from degeneration through a guided immersive journey at the gallery. In each room, we will encounter a different element related to the theme, to the space, and to the ritual– with guided text based discourse and live ballet and modern dance performances.
