Law Enforcement Training - Divestiture Program The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General and the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCADV) are partnering to help facilitate the immediate and effective implementation of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Tit. XXXV, Art. 1001-1004, the Domestic Violence Prevention Firearms Transfer Act. This legislation creates a process for the transfer of firearms from domestic abusers. This crucial law has the potential to greatly reduce domestic violence homicides in Louisiana. While we understand that, your office currently has a procedures in place for the transfer of firearms in accordance with this law. The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General will be providing supplemental training and technical assistance for the implementation of these procedures. Our goal is to work together to discover issues and find effective solutions in enforcing this crucial legislation. Our offices are more than happy to assist in training efforts regarding the Firearm Transfer, and will be using your feedback to evaluate, assess and develop training that would be most productive.
