Let's pick up where we left off from our 2021 Panel Event as Tony Raymer takes a deep dive into brain health & how we support one another! TONY RAYMER is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) who has worked in the field of mental health and disability supports in Polk County since 2007. A graduate of Wartburg College and the University of Iowa with his Master’s in Social Work, Tony has supported children and families, as well as adults with disabilities in not only the therapy office individually, but in the community and through group therapy with the goal of maximum independence in mind. Tony is the Director of Brain Health at Easterseals Iowa where he leads two services: • Brain health/mental health therapy focused especially on supporting people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and their support (especially Direct Support Professionals). We provide individual, family, and group therapy to people from all backgrounds at Camp Sunnyside and across Iowa over telehealth • Polk County’s Children’s Crisis Stabilization services, supporting kids and families experiencing a brain health crisis both in the community and at our 12 bed residential facility. Crisis stabilization is a short term service, up to 5 days, focused on building skills and plans to support a family through crisis and preventing future crises Tony also serves as the Chair of the Iowa Board of Social Work and the President of the National Association of Social Workers, Iowa Chapter. Most importantly, Tony is the father of two and enjoys biking, kayaking, and hiking with his family, as well as wood turning which he is trying to learn.
