one L With BICHOS VIVOS AND MISNOMER! Drawing on a wide range of influences including Brazilian, Cuban, West African, Rock and Hip-Hop, “one L” features multiple percussionists, Electric Guitar and Electric Bass, plus Violins and Horns. Highly rhythmic and melodic, “one L” brings many sounds of the world together in Athens, GA. Rooted in the Brazilian northeast region, Forró is party music driven by the accordion, triangle, Zabumba (big traditional drum), rounded out by guitar, bass, percussion, and vocals. The closest equivalent here in the US is Zydeco with its infectious and highly danceable rhythms. These are deeply soulful songs that also make people swing their hips and dance through the night. Misnomer is an ensemble based out of Atlanta, Georgia. It began as a collective of students from the University of Georgia channeling their influences from classical, hip-hop, funk, and jazz music into something original. The group is comprised of some variation of horns (trumpet, alto/tenor/bari sax, and trombone), keyboard and synthesizer, bass, drums, and percussion. They perform a repertoire of music that spans several genres, influenced by artists and composers like OutKast, NO BS! Brass Band, musicians from GroundUp Music, and more. $15 ADV/$20 ATD Upon arrival to a performance, all guests must present a VALID ID along with a completed COVID-19 vaccination card or picture of completed card, OR proof of their negative COVID-19 test result.
