Senior Journalist and Pakistan United Parade Committee Founding Member Hameed Ullah Khan passed away on Thursday, November 26th, 2020 at the age of 79 due to Covid-19. According to sources in the family, Mr. Khan had been diagnosed with Covid-19 three weeks ago and was admitted to Chicago local Hospital. The doctors had put him on a ventilator after his condition deteriorated last week. He migrated to Chicago from Pakistan in early 70's where later he started Urdu Newspaper "Unity Times" in Chicago. He spent his complete life defending Urdu through Journalism, books and lectures. Friends and Family expressed deep shock at the sudden death of Hameed Ullah Khan. Fondly known as Baba of Chicago Urdu. He made a difference in the art of Urdu writing in the country, was renowned for his many creations. He regaled the gathering with his sharp memories of reporting the news in an era long. The South Asian community condoled his death and termed it a great loss for the Chicagoland community. Several prominent personalities took to social media to extend condolences on the death of the journalist. Many renowned personalities including Wasi Ullah Khan, Ali Khan, Raja Yaqoob, Iftekhar Shareef, Azeem Quadeer, Yaseen Chohan, Saleem Abdul Rehman, Tariq Muhammad, Kaleem Hasan, Martino Tangkar and many others paid tribute to his services. He will be remembered for his dedication and services to the community. Chicago lost a great friend and a great leader. He received several awards in journalism. He has been buried at Chicago's Rosehill Cemetery.
