NYC's Taxi Commish Resigns After Expletive-Filled Call: Report

NEW YORK CITY — Turns out taxi-related rage isn't confined to New York City's roads — it extended to the city's now-former commissioner in charge of yellow cabs, according to a new report. Aloysee Heredia Jarmoszuk resigned Wednesday from her post as Taxi and Limousine commissioner after the New York Post posed questions about an expletive-filled video meeting, the tabloid first reported. Video from the February virtual meeting obtained and released by the Post shows Heredia Jarmoszuk use harsh language to subordinates and appear to denigrate their complaints. At one point, she snapped at someone for "messing around with the mute," the Post reported. "I will f------ come for you," she said, according to the Post. Another exchange proved prophetic: "This is going to be on the New York Post in the morning, apparently," she said, according to video released by the Post. Heredia Jarmoszuk, in a statement, apologized for her comments. "As TLC Commissioner and Chair, I was proud to lead an Agency full of dedicated employees who want to effect positive change-both within the agency and on the industry-and I am proud of our results," she said. "I pushed my team as hard as I pushed myself and I will be the first to admit that I should have found a more constructive way to express my expectations to them during the video call—I was wrong and I am sorry. This is certainly something that I will learn and grow from as I move forward." Heredia Jarmoszuk previously served under former Mayor Bill de Blasio and was renominated for her position by current Mayor Eric Adams. She is perhaps most known to New Yorkers for her role in a deal designed to help cab drivers saddled with hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxi medallion debt.
