United Passenger From Yonkers Arrested After Airport Tirade

YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man has been identified as the unruly passenger who became physically violent and shouted verbal threats before police tased and arrested him at Orlando International Airport. Ryan Martin faces charges, including disorderly intoxication, child abuse, domestic violence, battery and resisting an officer with violence, according to the Miami Herald. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident, a United spokesperson told the newspaper. Sheriff Jim Gannon from Morris County, New Jersey was with his daughter and grandchildren at the Florida Airport on Feb. 24, according to Save Jersey, when a drunk man attacked his wife and a United Airlines employee while waiting for a flight to New York. The man also shouted threats and profanities and eventually forced his way onto the jetway. The meltdown was captured on video by a bystander and published by Orlando News 6. The 34-year-old admitted he "had a couple of drinks," according to the Herald. "Yo, pal, don't even come over here - you're gonna end up dead," Martin can be heard saying in the video. Officers tried to grab Martin, but he resisted, Orlando News 6 reported. The New Jersey Sheriff said he aided officers as Martin was tased and handcuffed. "He was very aggressive towards that uniformed officer, who did a phenomenal job. And so, there was a taser deployment and then we went to the ground and I assisted in handcuffing the individual," Gannon told NBC New York. The man is barred from flying United Airlines, pending an investigation. The Miami Herald reports that he spent one night in the Orange County Jail Thursday before he was bailed the next day.
