Description

SALEM, MA — Salem is looking for North Shore artists and creatives looking to showcase their talents downtown this spring. The upcoming CultureHouse Salem pop-up community space at Old Town Hall is looking for North Shore-based performers, artists, creatives, nonprofit organizations and businesses for programs during its three-month run beginning in April. Some preference will be given to Salem-based entries, but all are encouraged to apply. CultureHouse is designed to help cities collect data to determine the viability of a year-round culture destination and outlet for local creatives to showcase their work. A year ago, a similar CultureHouse project in Peabody revealed a demand for arts and community space downtown, especially events geared toward teens and young adults. CultureHouse programming proposals can be submitted here. Salem is also looking for entries in its seventh annual Mural Slam on Artists' Row. The Mural Slam is a public painting event that engages the public with creative producers downtown. The city is looking for 12 artists for the program that includes a stipend. Those interested in the Mural Slam can apply here with a deadline of March 31. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
