STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford boys basketball team lost a hard-fought battle to Kolbe Cathedral, 59-54, in the South-West Conference semifinals.
A very physical and fast-paced game gave the sold-out crowd plenty to yell about at the Sheehan Center on Tuesday night
Jayquan Kirkland scored 18 points and Brady Knorr had 14 points to lead the Red Devils, but it wasn't enough against Kolbe Cathedral, which is ranked seventh in the state and first in CIAC Division 3.
Najimi George scored a game-high 26 points for Kolbe Cathedral and Ty Staples-Santos had 16. The Cougars face Notre Dame Fairfield in the SWC championship Friday in Newtown.
Stratford will host Stamford in the first round of the CIAC Division 2 tournament on Monday.
