ARLINGTON, MA — Undercover officers arrested an Arlington man during an investigation focused on the sale of drugs to children, police said.
Investigators identified 20-year-old Ryan Darcy as a possible suspect and contacted him over social media to arrange to buy marijuana, police said. Darcy was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday after meeting with undercover officers in the Thorndike Field parking lot, police said.
Officers searched Darcy's car and found more than 45 grams of marijuana, $240 in cash and a loaded 9 mm handgun, police said.
He was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, carrying a firearm without a license, and being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant.
"The Arlington Police Department works tirelessly to protect our children from the dangers of substance use through both education and enforcement," Chief Julie Flaherty said in a statement. "We will never tolerate this kind of activity where drugs are allegedly being distributed to youth, and I am proud of the officers who quickly and effectively brought this investigation to a successful conclusion."
Darcy is expected to be arraigned Thursday in Cambridge District Court.
