PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Suspended Prince George's County Police Sgt. Shaun Urbina has been indicted on a misdemeanor charge of misconduct in office. County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy announced that a grand jury had returned the indictment, which stemmed from a July 9, 2020, incident. Urbina had engaged in an unauthorized high-speed pursuit in Clinton, which resulted in the deaths of mother and son Lynda and Richard Jones. According to the police department, Urbina and five fellow officers pursued the Jones' SUV prior to it crashing. They were all suspended at the time, but four have returned to full duty. Urbina was the ranking officer in the pursuit, the department said. Urbina was assigned to the bureau of patrol when he was suspended in 2020. He joined the agency in 2005. The Internal Affairs Division's investigation into Urbina's actions in this case continues at this time.
