HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Student-musicians with the Howard County Public School System's gifted and talented orchestra will perform side-by-side with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Led by BSO Assistant Conductor Jonathan Taylor Rush, the program will feature pieces by Dvořák, Nielsen, Brahms, Beethoven and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
The opportunity to perform in a side-by-side concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra started in 2013. HCPSS high school gifted and talented 0rchestra is comprised of students from HCPSS' 12 high school who are selected via a rigorous audition process, the school noted. Benjamin Denne and Colin O'Bryan, who also serve as orchestra directors at Howard High School and Reservoir High School, respectively, are among the high school ensemble's directors.
The event is free and open to the public. Masks are required inside the building. Doors open at 7 p.m. and parking is available at the Cathedral Parking Garage for $15 per car.
