Press release from Carroll County Public Library: March 3, 2022 Carroll County Public Library, Eldersburg Branch will hold a grand opening of its new Little Free Pantry (LFP) on Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 am. The LFP is Leighann Truesdale's Girl Scout Gold Award project in partnership with the library and White Rock IME Church. The pantry is accessible from the library parking lot adjacent to the electric vehicle charging stations. What is a Little Free Pantry? Little Free Pantries combat local food insecurities by supporting those not able to meet everyday food and personal needs. Traditional food pantries often require an application before use and have set hours of operation. Anyone may access the LFP at any time. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The LFP provides a safe, nonjudgmental location for those in need to get food assistance. Neighbors are encouraged to take what they need and give what they can. Quotes About the Little Food Pantry "I wanted to help the community support itself by providing a place that people can take food to help others in the community. There are so many hungry people due to things going on in the world today –the pandemic, losing their jobs, or other reasons. Having an LFP available helps everyone who needs it."–Leighann Truesdale, Girl Scout "The Little Free Pantry (LFP) offers a service for the community to engage in, whether by donating, or by partaking of the donations. You never know when food assistance may become a need. Folks can donate at any time by putting non-perishable items directly into the pantry and folks can take what they need at any time, as well." –Nadine Rosendale, Carroll County Public Library, Eldersburg Branch Manager Carroll County Public Library's Eldersburg Branch is located at 6400 West Hemlock Drive in Eldersburg, Maryland.
