From the Deerfield Park District: January 27, 2020 The Deerfield Park District is proposing the placement of 4 dedicated pickleball courts at Deerspring Park. The proposed project has been approved by the Village of Deerfield Plan Commission. The next step in the approval process will be to present the project to the Village of Deerfield Board of Trustees. This presentation was scheduled for February 3, 2020. Village officials have asked the Park District to receive more input from neighboring residents. This input is in addition to the input received at the Park District's December and January regular board meetings and at the Village's Plan Commission Public Hearing in December 2019. In response to the village's request, the Park District will not present the project on February 3, 2020. As a method to provide an additional opportunity for residents to provide input on the proposed project, the Park District will allocate a portion of its regularly scheduled workshop meeting on February 6, 2020 towards the project. That workshop meeting will be held at 7:30 pm at the Jewett Park Community Center. In addition to other agenda items at the workshop meeting, staff will present some alternatives for the placement of the courts at Deerspring Park, along with the already approved project plan. These alternatives are currently under design. Once they are completed, they will be posted on the Deerfield Park District website. All designs will still focus on the placement of the courts at Deerspring Park. At the workshop meeting, residents will be afforded the opportunity to provide input after the staff presents the options to the Park Board of Commissioners. This provision of input will be in accordance with Park District policy which provides up to 3 minutes per person to provide input. After resident input has been received, the Park Board will discuss the project. Depending on the outcome of the Park Board discussion, the project presentation to the village will then be coordinated with village officials. Upcoming dates of village board meetings include February 18, March 2 and March 16, 2020. Information relating to the appearance date will be posted on the park district web site once it is established.
