Concorde Career College Student Honored by Pacific Dental Services Foundation Three Concorde Career College students – including one from the school’s Portland campus – were awarded the Pacific Dental Services Foundation’s Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarship. The scholarship's purpose is to help shape the next generation of dental assistant leaders by providing students with need-based financial aid, mentorship and on the job training. It is named after Dr. Carolyn Ghazal, DDS, who is Chair of Associate Dentist Development at PDS University-Institute of Dentistry. Dr. Ghazal is also the first-ever dentist supported by Pacific Dental Services. The scholarship originated with Concorde Career Colleges – a national leader in health care education with 16 campuses in eight states – and is now available to students at several schools across the nation. Concorde award winners are Kailey Dudley from the Portland campus and Chelsea Jones and Francisco Ayala from the San Diego campus. All started their studies in July 2020. “I am beyond grateful,” Dudley said. “I’m so thankful for everything Concorde has taught me and have always found the PDS Foundation amazing.” The scholarship is awarded 4 times per year and this time received more than 50 applicants. Each winner will receive up to $5,000 in financial aid, a mentor to assist them during and after completing their school program and on-the-job training. “The scholarship provides students with financial support and mentorship as they pursue a career in dental assisting,” said Dr. Carolyn Ghazal. “My hope is that it will make a significant impact in the life of a DA student and foster their professional and personal development.” To enter the next round of the Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarship, visit https://www.pdsfoundation.org/programs/scholarships/ to fill out an application. # # # About Concorde Career Colleges, Inc.
