Description
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz will begin construction of the San Lorenzo Riverwalk Lighting Project Monday, the city announced.
The ambitious plan will include the installation of 65 pole-mounted, 16-foot high decorative LED fixtures along the east and west sides of the river, between Water Street and Highway 1. Construction will also include the installation of conduits and pullboxes and electrical connection to existing service pedestals. Construction is expected to finish in June, the city said.
The $860,000 project is designed to increase biking and walking rates in the city, and enhance safety for transportation during the early morning and evening. It was funded through a grant from the California Transportation Commission Active Transportation Program Cycle Augmentation.
Traffic control will be in place for bikes and pedestrians from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Project concerns may be addressed to Senior Professional Engineer Ricardo Valdés (831) 420-5198 [email protected].
