PENNSYLVANIA — Despite being Pennsylvania's most well-known Republican U.S. Senate candidate, celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz has not gained significant traction for the GOP nomination, a new Franklin & Marshall College poll indicates.
However, the survey also indicated that 53 percent of Republicans haven't decided on a candidate, leaving plenty of time for any in the field to pull ahead before the May 17 primary.
On the Democratic side, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman has a significant lead over U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb from Western Pennsylvania. But 44 percent of Democrats haven't made up their minds on a candidate.
The results from Republicans surveyed:
David McCormick, former hedge fund CEO whose wife served in former President Donald Trump's administration: 13 percent.Carla Sands, the former U.S. ambassador to Denmark: 11 percent.Oz: 10 percent.Kathy Barnette, a conservative commentator and 2020 congressional nominee from Montgomery County: 6 percent.Jeff Bartos, a Montgomery County real estate developer.Other candidates: 3 percent.Don't know: 53 percent.The results from Democrats surveyed:
Fetterman: 28 percent.Lamb: 15 percent.Someone else: 7 percent.None: 6 percent.Malcolm Kenyatta, a state senator from Philadelphia: 2 percent.Don't know: 44 percent.The survey was conducted Feb. 21-27 at Franklin & Marshall's Center for Opinion Research. The results were based on the responses of 490 registered state voters - 223 Democrats, 200 Republicans and 67 independents.
