NEW LENOX, IL — Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox was recently named one of the best hospitals in the U.S. by Newsweek. The "World's Best Hospitals" list included 420 U.S. hospitals. Silver Cross was ranked No. 154. Twenty-six other countries also made the list. "We're honored to be ranked among the top hospitals in the world," said Debra Robbins, director of marketing and communications for Silver Cross. "At Silver Cross, we always strive to deliver the highest-quality care, the best possible patient experience, and the safest environment for our patients and staff. This recognition is a testament to the incredible efforts our employees, physicians and volunteers put forth on a daily basis, especially over the past two years as we — and hospitals around the globe — battled the COVID-19 pandemic." Newsweek used surveys from more than 80,000 medical experts from around the world as part of its ranking system. Other factors in the rankings included results from patient experience surveys and "medical key performance indicators," such as "data on quality of care for specific treatments, data on hygiene measures and patient safety, and data on number of patients per doctors and per nurse," according to Newsweek's methodology explanation. Twenty-three hospitals in Illinois were on the list for best in the U.S. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, claimed the global top spot, followed by Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital. Canada's Toronto General - University Health Network came in at No. 4, and Germany's Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin was fifth. Check out the full list by following this link.
