MURRIETA, CA — A small Murrieta church is hosting a candlelight vigil Saturday at the Temecula Valley Duck Pond. Organizers from the United Church of the Valley say they hope the lights in the darkness will show Temecula's support for the people of Ukraine and the brave dissidents of Russia. The lighting of the candles will be at 6 p.m., according to Sherian Spencer, moderator of the church. Church members will also be handing out 50 fresh sunflowers for those who gather "Let our candles be the light of hope and our sunflowers be a symbol of our prayers," she said. You do not need to be a member of the congregation to attend, she said. "All are welcome." The United Church of the Valley is located in Murrieta at 41685 Date Street. "We value spiritual growth, education, environmental harmony, inclusion, Interfaith understanding and social justice," their Facebook page suggests. "We listen for the voice of a still speaking God and in all things seek to understand the will of a just and loving God."
