MOKENA, Ill. — The Village of Mokena has joined the digital age.
During the Monday, Feb. 28 Village Board of Trustees meeting, Village Administrator John Tomasoski announced that Mokena would be launching two social media pages on Wednesday, March 2. One was a Facebook page for the Mokena Police Department, while the other was an Instagram page for the Village.
"Please like, share, follow or share with your friends and neighbors," Tomasoski said. "It's another way that we are going to communicate information on all kinds of events here through the [police department] and Village Hall to our customers, residents and businesses."
Trustee Melissa Fedora called it an effective way to communicate with the residents.
"I hope that now that we have these tools, everybody will use them wisely and kindly," she said.
Trustee Rob Dauphinais also expressed his appreciation for the Village launching the social media pages.
"It's something that people have been expressing a desire for us to have here, so thank you to everyone involved for making that happen," he said. "I look forward to responsible, productive conversations through those channels."
The pages can be accessed by visiting https://www.facebook.com/MokenaPD or https://www.instagram.com/villageofmokena/.
