JOLIET, IL — A 36-year-old Joliet man was booked into the Will County Jail with a $2 million bail on Wednesday afternoon in connection with four sexual crime charges. Demetrius Beal, of the 1000 block of Clement Street, was booked into the jail at 4:37 p.m.
Beal is charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim less than 13 years old.
According to the Joliet police, detectives opened an extensive investigation last Oct. 30 into the criminal sexual assaults of two young juveniles that occurred between 2011 and 2012.
"During the investigation, Detectives identified Beal as the suspect. Beal was identified as the boyfriend of the children's mother in 2011 and the crimes were perpetrated at the children's residence," Joliet police announced.
On Feb. 28, Joliet Policed detectives got a warrant for Beal's arrest for three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Joliet officers arrested Beal at his house in the 1000 block of Clement Street.
"My heart goes out to these children who had their innocence violated in the commission of such an obscene act," Joliet's new Police Chief Bill Evans announced. I want to commend the tireless work by our Detectives and Officers to take this vile individual off the streets of Joliet. Lastly, I want to thank the Will County State's Attorney Office and the Will County Children Advocacy Center for their assistance in this investigation."
