Description

DEERFIELD, IL — Back in June, Illinois moved into Phase 4 of its reopening plan. Local business owners realized the importance of looser restrictions, combined with following coronavirus mandates and guidelines, could be the difference between survival and closing shop. Now, three months since Phase 4 officially went into effect on June 26, many local businesses are still struggling to get by while others sadly have closed their doors. Village of Deerfield officials, along with the Deerfield, Bannockburn, Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce, recently unveiled a commercial promoting the "Shop Local" message. According to the spot, there are 1,100 hotel rooms, more than 200 retailers and more than 40 restaurants in Deerfield. In the two-minute spot, Victoria Street, executive director of the Chamber, and Harriet Rosenthal, village president, are among the people that speak. "Every time you shop local a little bit of that sales tax comes back to the Village of Deerfield," Street said. "The money you spend in Deerfield, stays in Deerfield," adds Rosenthal. Let's talk about shopping local! We know there are lots of options when shopping or dining, but when you shop local, you're supporting our local economy and investing in public safety, infrastructure and more. https://t.co/rSjDmlkC5P— Village of Deerfield (@Deerfield_IL) September 24, 2020
