MAPLE GROVE, MN — A Maple Grove man was sentenced to serve six years in prison after he was convicted on a child pornography charge, according to federal prosecutors.
Uriel Adan Vasquez-Rios, 29, pleaded guilty in May 2021 to one count of receiving child pornography after police alleged he made multiple social media accounts from 2017-2020 to solicit child pornography and sexual contact with children and adults.
Vasquez-Rio also used websites that depicted child pornography and downloaded a video showing the sexual abuse of a minor, federal prosecutors said Wednesday after he was sentenced.
Vasquez-Rios was a student at the University of Minnesota's School of Dentistry and had access to children during that period, prosecutors said.
