Press release from Fountaindale Public Library District: Debra March 2, 2022 After a few years of virtual programming, we're excited to host our first in-person genealogy conference of 2022! We partnered with the Plainfield Public Library District to host a special two-day Irish Genealogy Workshop with the Ulster Historical Foundation on Monday, March 28 and Tuesday, March 29. As a courtesy to our attendees, these sessions will be available in-person (limit 40) or virtually through Zoom (limit 99). Don't forget to sign up for both days if you're interested. In-person participants will have access to light snacks, handouts and the opportunity to purchase Ulster Historical Society books during the breaks. Virtual attendees will receive handouts via email ahead of the program, send questions to our speakers during the sessions and browse the online Ulster Historical Foundation book shop. Recordings of the sessions will be available for a very limited time following the program on our YouTube page. (Lunch is not provided. In-person participants should bring a lunch or use their break to visit a nearby restaurant.) 1:30 p.m. — Using Land Records: Griffith's Valuation, Tithe and Estate Records 2:30 p.m. — Newspapers as a Source for Irish Research 3:15 p.m. — Break 3:30 p.m. — The Irish Poor Law and Local Government Records: Board of Guardians, Workhouse Registers, Etc 4:30 p.m. — Q&A   DAY TWO: Tuesday, March 29, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. 9:15 a.m. — Program Starts 9:30 a.m. — Irish Education and School Records 10:30 a.m. — Records Related to the Different Churches in Ireland 11:30 a.m. — Break 11:45 a.m. — Emigration From the North of Ireland to North America 12:45 p.m. — Q&A One-on-One Consultations Following Tuesday's session, the speakers from the Ulster Historical Foundation will be offering one-on-one sessions (by appointment) for a fee of $35. These sessions should be booked by emailing Ulster directly at [email protected]. For in-person consultations, you must be fully vaccinated (including a booster) and wear a face mask. This is a requirement of the Ulster Historical Foundation. A limited number of virtual consultations may be made available for individuals who are unable to meet these requirements.
