BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Beverly Hills residents will have the chance to give blood during the newly proclaimed Red Cross Month. Biden on Monday proclaimed March 2022 as Red Cross Month, recognizing the organization's relief work around the globe in times of armed conflict, climate-induced disasters and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, according to his proclamation. The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce will host a blood drive with Cedars-Sinai on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the chamber's office, 9400 South Santa Monica Boulevard. Anyone over 16 years old can sign up to give blood on Cedars-Sinai's website. 16-year-old volunteers need a special release form, which can be found on the Cedars-Sinai website. Volunteers can park free for two hours at 439 North Canon Drive or 438 North Beverly Drive. "Throughout our history, Americans have always stepped up for each other in moments of crisis," Biden said in his proclamation. "This spirit is woven into the fabric of our Nation, and for more than 140 years it has been exemplified by devoted employees, volunteers, and supporters of the American Red Cross. This month, we honor the American Red Cross and the selfless Americans who serve our communities in need across our country and around the world." The American Red Cross, which supplies about 40 percent of blood in the U.S., is experiencing its worst blood shortage in more than a decade, the organization said in a news release. The Red Cross has seen a 10 percent decline in blood donations since March 2020, according to its website.
