Description
Rehoming my 3 cockatiels, mother, father, and teenage male chick. An experienced bird handler is a must. The parents (JoJo and Babybird) are about two years old. The female is extremely lovable and cuddly and can be handled easily. The male is a bit aggressive when he's agitated and can get very loud when agitated as well, but is extremely smart. They are a bonded family and need to be kept together. The baby, Sammy, is their only chick that has hatched. He is very tame and frequently whistles, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". He has lots of toys and we have been teaching him to skateboard and play with rings and basketball. He will sit and have a "conversation" with you and LOVES people. The parents are more leary at first. He was born in August of 2021. I will only consider an experienced prior cockatiel owner because I need to feel confident that you know exactly what you're getting into. These birds will live up to 20 years so it's a very long-term commitment. I love them very much but they are not getting the time or attention from me with my new job hours, and their behavior is starting to show it. I'm hoping they can bond with their new owner while they are still young. Their cages will be included along with all of their toys and birdbaths (they all LOVE playing in water) and all of their belongings. There will be a small adoption fee. Also, I have to be able to come to your home and see where they will live. They only spend a small amount of time per day in their cages (Sammy has his own cage but is never in it, he likes to sleep with his parents, we only have it for when they lay eggs and want him to stay away). They do sleep in their cage and hang out in there at times, but they mostly roam the house freely. You MUST have bird handling experience so you know what you're getting into because the male JoJo can get frustrating to deal with. They all step up and they are all hand tamed and hand fed, but if he's feeling aggravated he'll bite so I usually have him step on my forearm because he won't bite the forearm. He doesn't like to be pet, but it's clear he wants to learn. The female, "Baby Bird" will fly straight to you while you're eating and try to eat out of your mouth. They trust everything so they can easily be hurt. When I'm cooking or have the stove on they have to be put in the bedroom or cage because they will try to land in hot food or boiling water. They are young, curious and have BIG personalities. You'll have to be careful when doing dishes so they don't drink the soapy water because they love water. They're very smart and will learn when you want them to go in the cage and they won't let you if they don't feel like it, so a schedule is best. They copy whistles and JoJo sometimes announces "I'm JoJo". It will probably take a couple weeks before they will start trusting you. They will flock call very loudly if they are separated in different rooms, and they will flock call you very loud when you leave the room once they bond to you. All of this being said, if you have experience with cockatiels and you want to offer a forever home to them, then email me and we'll talk further. I'm in no rush and will not just let them go to anyone. It has to be a good forever home. ❤ Sidenote: I posted them in July of last year when I was searching for them a home, but then Babybird laid a clutch so we didn't want to stress her out by rehoming during the time of egg sitting, and raising Sammy.) In the pictures the dark grey one is JoJo the dad, the yellow one is Babybird the mom, and the light grey one is Sammy. I've included some baby pics of him as well. (They will lay more clutches in the future and you'll probably want to adopt out future babies, so I'll give you all baby pics, videos your records to show good parenting and hand tamed bloodline.)
