Description
Press release from the Village of Deerfield:
On the winter solstice, areas of the Northern Hemisphere see the shortest daylight period of the year and the midday sun is at its lowest point in the sky. The night of December 21 will be the longest night of the year.
On this night, join us in the stirring beauty of paper lanterns far and wide.
What to do:
At sundown, somewhere close to 4:40 p.m., join our community in the lighting of paper lanterns — small bags of sand with a candle inside — all along your property line at the sidewalk or walking path edge. To learn how to make one, click here for a step-by-step video.
