Wayside Farm Nursing and Rehab is a family owned and operated business located in Peninsula, OH, specializing in caring for mentally ill and behavioral residents since 1963. Wayside Farm is currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant: Days: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm. Must be able to work every other weekend. Pay will be based on experience. As the Maintenance Assistant, you will work with our Maintenance Director to maintain and improve the upkeep of our physical plant, both inside and outside. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area. Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. Ensures that all fire hazard sources (i.e. cleaning chemicals, broken outlets, space-heaters, lighters, etc.) are reported and maintained in the appropriate manner. Ongoing review of all regulations, standards and manufacturer’s instructions of fire protection systems and other facility equipment. Ensure infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures are being performed to maintain a sanitary environment at all times. Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures. Ensure that the facility and its equipment in properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience. Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties that may be assigned. Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry painting and other basic repair work. Advanced maintenance skills/experience is a plus. Prefer experience in a Nursing Home, Assisted Living or Hotel setting. Maintenance and/or Plant Management of a health care facility are strongly desired, in addition to knowledge of State and Federal regulations. High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Upon hire, complete a competency training on maintenance, inspections and testing of fire protection systems, generators, and other equipment.
