Press release from the City of Hermosa Beach: September 22, 2020 Los Angeles County will hold a General Election on November 3, 2020 that includes an opportunity for voters to weigh in on State and County Ballot Measures, Local District Offices (Beach Cities Health), State and Federal Representatives, and the Presidential Election. As the City of Hermosa Beach prepares for the November 3, 2020 general election, we wanted to share information about some of the most frequently asked election and voting questions this National Voter Registration Day. Is there still time to register to vote? Yes, eligible voters can register until Monday October 19 at lavote.net. After this date, you can register in-person at a Los Angeles County Vote Center between October 24 – November 3 and still be able to vote on the same day. What are the key election dates to mark on the calendar? October 5 - Vote by mail ballots sent to registered votersOctober 19 - Last day to register to voteOctober 24 - Early in-person voting begins at select vote centers in LA CountyOctober 30 - Early in-person voting begins at all vote centers in LA CountyNovember 3 - Election Day. Polls open until 8 PM. Vote by mail ballots must be dropped at a vote center, drop-off box, or postmarked by Nov 3 to be counted What are my options for voting in the upcoming election? There are several ways to vote in the upcoming election. Make a plan for casting your ballot with one of these three options: Vote-by-Mail - In California, voters registered by October 19 will automatically be mailed a Vote-By-Mail ballot between October 5 – 27. Check your registration now to make sure your mailing address is up to date. If your ballot is postmarked by Election Day (November 3) and received by the LA County Clerk/Registrar Recorder within 17 days after the election (November 20), your ballot will be accepted.Ballot Drop-Off Boxes - Drop-off boxes to securely return your vote-by-mail ballot will be installed throughout LA County where voters can drop-off ballots 24-hours per day at any location between October 5 to November 3. The drop-off location in Hermosa Beach is located in front of the Hermosa Beach Library at 550 Pier Avenue.In-Person Vote Centers - LA County voters can vote at any Vote Center in the county and are no longer limited to local polling places as in previous elections. Some vote centers will open as early as October 24, with all voting centers open October 30 – November 3. Election workers will follow County and State COVID-19 protocols to provide a safe voting environment. Please remember to wear a clean face-covering and maintain 6 feet of distance from other voters and election workers. How do I find out if my ballot has been counted? There is a free tracking system available to California voters that sends email, text or phone notifications on when you can expect to receive your ballot and when it is received by the LA County Clerk/Registrar Recorder. The County is seeking election workers for the upcoming November 2020 election and offers stipends for those who serve. Workers must be at least 18 years old (or 16 if participating the student election worker program), a California resident and registered to vote or a legal permanent resident.
