MISSISSIPPI — Residents in Mississippi are heading to the ballot box Nov. 5 to cast their votes in a tightly contested race for governor between Republican Lt. Gov Tate Reeves and Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood. Polls open on Election Day at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. local time. Voters can confirm their polling place by entering their address on the Secretary of State's website. You can find information here on the required identification you need to present for voting in person in Mississippi. Our state is in the midst of its most competitive governor's race in almost twenty years, as Mississippi hasn't had a democratic governor since 2003. The winner will succeed the term-limited Republican Gov. Phil Bryant. The White House has shown strong support for Reeves. Vice President Mike Pence held a rally Monday at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi for the republican candidate, and President Donald Trump held a rally in the state on Friday. Tate Reeves will be a great Governor of Mississippi, and what an electric Rally last night. Vote for Tate on Tuesday! https://t.co/5AZHe5DT9A— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 2, 2019
