Description

Meditative Attunement – Hearing it All We continue deepening our attunement to energies around us by experiencing different vocal tones, not immediately heard, that can be accessed with guidance and practice.   Much like the fact that a single note from a piano is made up of several frequencies, or wavelengths of sound, so too can these harmonies be found in in the wind whistling through a forest, a geese’s honk, the wings of a bee. Practicing conscious separation of the different natural wavelengths around us helps us become more attuned to the overtones, undertones, resonance, and dissonance of life within and without. With instruction from Robb Saffell, we’ll practice the skill of meditative overtones or throat singing. Robb will also play his singing bowls, and we’ll happily welcome a couple of members from his singing group. (Please see more about Robb below.)    On that note, it is easy for the overtones created by the war in Ukraine to be deafening. The pain and suffering of humans on both sides must be recognized, the frequency separated but present. We will express our shared pain for those affected with the same sensitivity we hope to gain through listening to the under and overtones of the world around us.    About Robb: Harmonic Introductions was founded by Robb Saffell and J.I. Canizares, a vocal ensemble dedicated to performing and teaching polyphonic overtone and throat singing. Overtone singing enables a singer to resonate and control 2 different notes with clarity. With some styles of throat singing, 3 or more may be produced simultaneously.  Together, we foster creativity and further exploration of voice, sound, and spirit through meditative improvisation. Our accompanying instruments, singing bowls, exponentially enhance this soundscape with their pure, dulcet tones that let our voices melt into and grow through.  Harmonic Introductions celebrates 10 years this year, having put on over 100 events of all sorts, and look forward to what’s coming up this year!  Please register so we can keep you updated with any changes. LIABILITY Your attendance at the event is understood to hold The Wild Earth Spiritual Community and its leaders harmless in case of illness, accident, or injury.
