Description

This class is to dye for! Learn fun tie-dye techniques and walk away with two colorful shirts! Join instructor Linore Huss for an hour and a half long session where you'll learn proper dye techniques, fun folds, and leave with two completed tie-dye shirts! We'll learn to make patterns such as a basic swirl, polka dots (bulls-eyes), lines, and more! Students will also receive a page of instructions for mixing their own dye and soda ash mixture, and for rinsing/washing their shirts at home once they have set. Please bring two t-shirts with you! T-shirts that are 100% cotton will give you the best results. Other shirts may leave you with dulled colors (Ben Franklin's is a great place to get them). It is best to wash them first, as chemicals they were stored in can also affect the tie-dyeing process. Local artist Linore Huss has always been adventurous and creative. From general arts and folk dance to fiber and jewelry to ceramics and metalsmithing, Linore loves to explore new mediums, and the world around her is always an opportunity to find new shapes and textures. She encourages her students to show creativity in every process, and loves when they teach her something new as they come in with open eyes and minds. Linore graduated with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Ceramics in 2018 and has since spent time as the Head of Metals and Glass at Camp Matoaka in Maine, Metals Studio Assistant at Arrowmont, and a ceramics and jewelry teacher for kids and adults in the Tri-Cities area.
