Description

The Bach Society of Charleston welcomes Nicholas Quardokus, newly appointed Canon Organist at Grace Church Cathedral in all Bach recital. Organist Nicholas Quardokus made his highly successful Charleston debut at the Piccolo Spoleto L’Organo Festival in 2015. Now returned full-time to The Holy City as Canon Organist at Grace Church Cathedral, he offers an all-Bach program including the magnificent “St. Anne” Prelude and Fugue in E flat, and a selection of the master’s profound and evocative Chorale Preludes. He comes to us directly from New York City’s famed St. Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue; educated at Indiana University and Yale, his concert appearances include the Kennedy Center and the National Cathedral in Washington DC. First prize winner at Connecticut’s Albert Schweitzer Organ competition, he is known as an expert in historical performance as both solo organist and continuo player on organ and harpsichord. The tracker-action Gabriel Kney organ at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul is one of Charleston’s organs most suited to the performance of Baroque music.
