Join the National Park Service for a Covid-safe volunteer event to restore the Yerba Mansa Meadow in Newbury Park! IMPORTANT! DUE TO COVID-RELATED PROTOCOLS, PLEASE PRE-REGISTER TO SECURE A VOLUNTEER SLOT. IF YOU DO NOT PRE-REGISTER, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOU A VOLUNTEER SLOT AND YOU MAY BE TURNED AWAY. Join us for a fun and safe morning of native plant restoration in our unique Yerba Mansa meadow in Newbury Park. The meadow is home to a population of the locally-rare native plant Yerba Mansa, along with milkweed visited by monarch butterflies and various other native plants used by dozens of local birds, insects and other wildlife. Work will consist of planting hundreds of live plants grown from locally collected seed. This activity is appropriate for ages 5 and up, and masks will be required when working within 6ft of others. The event will run from 9 am to 12 pm . Please bring water, sunscreen and a sun hat. Wear hiking attire, closed toe shoes and pants and long-sleeved shirt are recommended. Gloves and tools will be provided. Directions: Main entrance cross street is Via Goleta and Lynn Road, Newbury Park, CA, 91320 GPS Coordinates for Entrance (Via Goleta & Lynn Road): N 34.1569 W -118.9733 Main Entrance: Ventura Fwy (101) to Lynn Rd exit. South on Lynn Rd 5.25 miles to Via Goleta. Park entrance is on the left. Using google maps, search for the Car Park for Sycamore Canyon at Rancho Sierra Vista in Newbury Park. You should see park staff working at the site on your left as you drive down the entrance road.
