TAMPA, FL — A 30-year-old Tampa man was killed Wednesday after losing control of his car on the Selmon Expressway and flying over the concrete barrier walls, landing on the roads below.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:10 a.m., a 2014 Chevy Sonic was traveling east along the westbound lanes of the expressway. While attempting to exit the expressway at the Tampa Street entrance ramp, the driver lost control. The car collided with the concrete barrier and then went over the top, falling onto the intersection of Brorein and Franklin streets.
The driver died at the scene.
